Practices for Pacifying Sickness

Special Mantra Pacifying All Sicknesses
Rinpoche gave the following mantra for curing illnesses.
If recited many times, any sickness can be cured by this mantra:
TAYATHA OM VAJRA VAJRA MAHA VAJRA SARVA BAYATI HANA HANA VAJRE NA SVAHA
Black Garuda Mantra and Visualization
Rinpoche explained the following practice of Black Garuda, which can help with certain illnesses.
The Black Garuda deity is actually a manifestation of Buddha. The Buddha manifested in this aspect in order to pacify sickness in relation to harm by nagas and to subdue nagas. Reciting the mantra and performing the visualization not only helps to cure illness but also purifies extensive negative karma within us, which is beneficial in this life and all future lifetimes.
Begin the practice by first taking strong refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Then, generate a positive motivation for performing this practice, such as generating the thought: “In order to benefit all living beings to be free from all sufferings and obtain ultimate happiness, I need to first obtain the fully enlightened state of buddhahood myself, for which I need to practice and follow the Dharma path. In order to follow the Dharma path, I need to have a healthy body and most importantly a healthy mind. Therefore, I am going to do the practice of Black Garuda, with visualization and recitation of the mantra.”
Visualization
(Only the front generation is presented here, for those who have not received the Black Garuda initiation.)
Visualize in the space in front of you the Black Garuda deity, which is a manifestation of Buddha. Light rays come forth from Black Garuda’s heart, which enter into you through the top of your crown. As the light enters into your body, it removes all sickness and particularly the illness you are experiencing now. The light rays also remove all of your negative karma created from beginningless lifetimes.
The sickness and negative karma is removed in the form of black light, which leaves from all the pores of your body. You are filled with the blissful energy of Black Garuda deity and thus you are cured of all sickness, especially sickness which is related to harm by nagas, such as cancer, etc. You are cleansed of all negative karmas, and the positive imprint for yourself to become a buddha is implanted in your mind.
You can maintain this visualization, while reciting the mantra.
Short mantra (recite a few times):
OM MANI KYUNG KYUNG THUM THUM BÄ BÄ SVAHA
Long mantra (recite as many times possible, ie 7, 21, 108 times or more):
NAGPO KALA RAKYA BÄ BÄ / SÖ SÖ / CHHUNG CHHUNG / PUTRI ZANG ZANG / CHAG KYI TERMÖ NYING CHHUNG / NÖ JE DUG PÄ SHA LA ZO / OM HLANG HLANG / TSER TSER / ÜB ÜB SO
After the recitation, dedicate the merit you have accumulated from performing this practice by thinking: “With the merit that I have gained from meditating and reciting the mantra, may I be able to alleviate the sufferings of all beings and lead them to the ultimate state of happiness, which is enlightenment.”
