The Qualities of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Living Buddha

Date Posted:

Rinpoche gave the following commentary on how His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a living Buddha.

When we see His Holiness the Dalai Lama, not only do we see the compassion of all the Buddhas, but also we see Avalokiteshvara in a dynamic human form—a form that allows us to communicate directly. When we hear His Holiness’ holy speech, not only do we receive blessings, but also there is no question that such an opportunity is an incredible miracle, like a dream, because it definitely leads us to the end of samsara. Not only does it bring about the elimination of all the sufferings of samsara, but also it eliminates the causes of these sufferings that reside within our own minds—the delusions and karma.

Just seeing His Holiness’ holy body plants the seed to attain liberation from samsara and achieve full enlightenment. It is something we never forget for the rest of our lives. And at the time of death, when we are drawing our last breath, it is extremely beneficial to remember the holy body and holy speech of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This will definitely result in a positive reincarnation, where one is able to again practice Mahayana Buddhism and meet with His Holiness. This is a very good meditation to rely on at the time of death, rather than dying with sorrow. The moment of death is the most critical moment in our life because it determines whether our next incarnation will be suffering or happy. Since every moment in our life is important—how we live our life, whether our attitude is good-hearted or egotistical—we should attempt as much as possible to put into practice His Holiness’ advice. This will make our life most productive.

So please enjoy seeing the living Buddha!
