Lama Yeshe sent photos of the MEC students all around the world and also took photos with him on tour in an attempt to raise funds for them. "Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche had recently adopted Jhamba Dolkar, a young girl whose family circumstances were so desperate that her mother had begged the lamas to take care of her. “I can remember being at Kathmandu airport with Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa standing on either side of me as I said good-bye to my family,” Jhamba Dolkar explained."

Wim (squatting at the front right), the Dutch artist, who had painted the walls of Lawudo Gompa the year before, arrived at Tushita and painted a mural of Guru Shakyamuni on the left front porch wall of the building, while Lawrence Greenberg (standing to the right of Rinpoche) painted the four friends on the right. Marie is holding the second edition of Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s “Wish-fulfilling Golden Sun.” Both Nick and Marie were early students of the lamas who continue to play active and important roles in the implementation of the lamas' vision as it unfolds in the present day.

(16657_pr-2.psd) The front of a photo Lama Yeshe gave to Connie Miller in 1976. Connie Miller was rushed to Shanti Bhawan hospital in Kathmandu when she suffered an attack of appendicitis. Afterwards, Lama Yeshe showered her with gifts, including a picture of himself inscribed on the back in his erratic hand, “Much love, Lama Yeshe. See you space.” Kopan Monastery, Nepal, 1976.
