This is a response to a student who wrote to Rinpoche after she had finished the list of preliminary practices he had given her and asked what she should focus on now.
A student sent a letter to Rinpoche saying he had finished all his preliminary practices and asked how should he structure his daily practice.
Advice given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche outlining how to meditate on the lamrim, the graduated path to enlightenment.
If you still have time, read some of the lamrim every day, such as Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand. Read a little each day, depending on how much time you have. You can read it slowly and that still becomes meditation.
Start with guru devotion and meditate on that for however many months, years or even lifetimes it takes, however long it takes to get the realization.

The Golden Light Sutra:
My most dear, wish-fulfilling Isabel,Thank you very much your kind letter and news. My idea is that you need to start the preliminary practices first, then you can start the actual retreat later.
